These guides help campaigns deliver targeted messages to millions of voters.

What is a slate mailer, and what do I get as a featured candidate?

A slate mailer is a shared direct mail piece that lists multiple candidates and ballot measures together. Think of it like a catalog for campaigns — a cost-effective and trusted way to reach targeted voters compared to solo mailers or digital ads.

CA Slates candidates receive:

  • A full-color photo
  • 150 characters of text
  • A website or slogan
  • Placement on all four of our voter guides

Why is it more economical than direct mail?

All costs — design, printing, voter data, mail services, and postage — are shared among participating campaigns. This can reduce mail spending by up to 90% compared to sending solo direct mail. Plus, you reach voters four times for the cost of one mailing.

If you’re interested in solo direct mail, our friends at Local Campaign Pros can help with printing, targeting, and mailing services.

How are voter targets selected?

Each one of CA Slates’ four voter guides targets a different, high-propensity demographic to maximize impact and minimize overlap. We run custom data targeting at the time of your quote and again before mailing to ensure lists are current and accurate.

How much does it cost to be featured in CA Slates’ slate mailers?

Pricing depends on the number of high-propensity households in your district. You never pay for households outside of your district.

When you’re ready for a quote, a CA Slates team member will provide you with custom pricing to best reflect your needs.

We also offer discounts for group buys, so let us know if you have colleagues we should reach out to!

What types of candidates can participate?

We feature candidates in:

  • Congressional and Statewide races
  • City Council, School Board, Judicial races
  • Local ballot measures

Can I be on more than one slate?

Yes! Candidates and ballot measures benefit from appearing on multiple slates to reach broader demographics. Typically campaigns purchase all of CA Slates different voter guides, along with slate mailers from other vendors.

How are slate card spaces assigned?

Space is limited based on the number of seats up for election. (E.g., only 2 candidates will be featured in a 2-seat race.) We assign space first-come, first-served, so early reservation is critical.

What is CA Slates’ party affiliation?

We are strictly nonpartisan. CA Slates does not endorse or affiliate with any political party. Our only goal is to help campaigns communicate with voters.

Why should I choose CA Slates’ slate mailers over competitors?

  • Full-color, digitally printed guides
  • High-quality card stock
  • Larger photo/logo space and more text per candidate than any other slate
  • Fast, reliable production — design, print, and mailing all under one roof
  • Union Printed

When will your slate mailers be mailed for my election?
